What is a Sleep Study?
A sleep study is a safe and simple evaluation
of how your body functions during sleep. It is
performed by a registered sleep technician.
The information collected during a sleep study
will determine if you have a sleep disorder. It is
similiar to having an x-ray to determine if you
have a broken bone. If you do have a sleep
disorder, it is important to be diagnosed and
treated. Sleep disorders can contribute to
other diseases as stated.

An order for a sleep study from your health
care provider is required at our facility.

There are is no prep required for a sleep
study. We ask that you refrain from napping
the day of the study, bring your prescribed
home medications and a list of your
medications. We will be monitoring your heart
rate and rhthym, oxygen saturation, breathing,
sleep stages and muscle movements.
A sleep study at the Sleep Center of
Northeast Louisiana is an outpatient
procedure. Patients normally arrive at
approximately 8:30 p.m. and leave the
following morning. We perform testing 7 days
per week. No sedation is used during the
study. Patients' take their home medications
as prescribed by their doctor. You will stay in
a private room. You will bring comfortable
